Life-long Bartholomew County Resident

My family has called Bartholomew County home for over 7 generations.  We live in a beautiful community filled with bright, innovative, hard-working Hoosiers who deserve better education, better paying jobs, and clean, healthy air, water, and land to ensure a better life for themselves and their families. Hoosiers deserve new, fresh, competent, experienced representation in all of these critical areas and my expertise gives me the ability to do that.

I am ready to lead the changes that Indiana needs for all Hoosiers to have a better life.
PRIORITY ISSUES
Education

REBUILD A WORLD-CLASS PUBLIC EDUCATION

  • Indiana’s Constitution guarantees a quality public education for every Hoosier child.

  • Respect the professionalism of teachers through encouraging educational best practices, and focus on what’s best for student learning in their classrooms.

  • Invest in educators by boosting pay and ensuring classrooms across the state are equipped with the resources, materials as well as competent and professional staff, for a top quality learning environment.

  • Promote a positive learning climate and ensure educational equity for all students.

  • Individualize high school graduation plans and expand access to college and career ready pathways so that all students have a clear pathway to graduation that supports their ability to enter college or begin their career.

WorkForce

INVEST IN HOOSIERS, DEVELOP A 21st CENTURY WORKFORCE, & CREATE AN ECONOMY THAT WORKS FOR ALL HOOSIERS

  • Our state’s most valuable resource has always been Hoosiers. To compete in the 21st century economy, we must invest in Hoosiers and build strong communities.

  • Indiana ranks 45th in labor supply. No matter how low taxes are, businesses won’t relocate or expand if they lack a supply of workers with the right skills.

  • Encourage start-up investment and remove barriers to capital for Hoosier entrepreneurs.

  • Work to raise incomes in our state, including incrementally increasing the minimum wage to ensure no person working 40 hours a week lives in poverty while minimizing the impact to small businesses.

  • Attract new businesses to invest in Indiana by making it clear that Indiana does not condone acts of hate by passing a statewide hate crimes law, to support all Hoosiers and Hoosier businesses.

Healthcare

SUPPORT HEALTHIER COMMUNITIES AND LOWER THE COST OF QUALITY CARE

  • Keep health care costs down by making premiums more affordable, reducing out-of-pocket expenses and capping prescription drug costs while maintaining protections for those with pre-existing conditions and prohibitions on lifetime coverage caps.

  • Expand access to mental health and addiction treatment.

  • Protect Hoosier Healthcare by eliminating aggressive political intrusion into the physician-patient relationship.

  • Attack Indiana’s opioid epidemic by tracking, investigating and prosecuting pill mills and dealers, and prevent and treat addiction.

  • Invest in community health centers and incentivize patients, health practitioners and doctors to participate in routine preventative care.

Environment

SUPPORT AN ENVIRONMENT ABLE TO SUSTAIN FUTURE GENERATIONS OF HOOSIERS

  • Work with industry to  raise clean air quality standards for all Hoosiers, since Indiana currently ranks 49th in air quality

  • Work to reduce Indiana’s Carbon Footprint

  • Incentivize Hoosier participation in wind and solar energy programs

  • Incentivize new and pre-owned fuel efficient vehicle purchase

  • Support measures that will ensure and protect our supply of clean water and encourage investment in sustainable farming, fishing, forestry research, and farmland preservation
